(no subject)

So it looks like our Halloween LoM party has run into a brick wall face first and now lies bleeding and dazed on the ground. Too many of our planners can't possibly attend which makes the whole thing a good deal less fun so there seems little point in moving forward with it. Aelf suggested an alternative "viewing party" at a date TBD but we'll see if we can pull it off.

This leaves me utterly without plans for Halloween which, normally, wouldn't bother me in the slightest. I suppose the fact that I used to have plans and now don't is what's bugging me the most...or perhaps it's the mild isolation I'm starting to feel with my current life. I get up, go to work, come home, eat, do some minor chores and go to bed. That's it. That's my life.

I read LJ and see all the things other people are doing and I begin to wonder what the hell is wrong with me. I mean my 59 year old mother has a more interesting life now than I do. I don't go anywhere, I don't do anything, and my most scintillating out of work conversations these days take place with my cats. Yes, I have become the old maid cliche...or I will have done when I acquire my first doily.

And of course I keep drawing the Hermit in all my Tarot readings so it would appear this state of affairs isn't letting up any time soon. Fan-fucking-tastic.

*sigh* Sorry, I'll stop whining now and go find something political to piss me off. I'd rather be pissed than depressed.

Ooh! You're invited here! And feel free to bring others - I already mentioned it to Angie -

Hmm, this sounds...intriguing. And one of my current costumes might just work with the theme...

I was planning on crashing that one. Now without yours, I'm down to, um, 3 parties (technically, 2 Halloween parties and one non-Halloween birthday BBQ).

And I'm down with a LoM viewing party or some viewing nights.

*hugs*

I could give you plans for Halloween, if you'd like. You're more than welcome to our party on the 27th, we'd love to have you!

And my new roommate has reminded me just how little of an outside social life I have. She gets home from work and goes off and does things with people. I get home and faff off on the computer and maybe watch some Stargate or something and then go to bed. Not hugely exciting.

It's good to know I'm not alone in the not having much of a life category. Normally it doesn't bother me, but every once in a while I start to think I've got to be missing out on something, you know?

[identity profile] tamago.livejournal.com 2007-09-26 04:28 pm (UTC)(link)
I gotta schedule a waffle day, dammit.

[identity profile] ebonlock.livejournal.com 2007-09-26 04:54 pm (UTC)(link)
I very much approve of waffles...

[identity profile] tamago.livejournal.com 2007-09-26 05:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Though it looks you've got plenty of halloween plans available now, so we should look at weekends that aren't then. ;-)

[identity profile] ebonlock.livejournal.com 2007-09-26 05:12 pm (UTC)(link)
LOL, it would seem so, yes :)

[identity profile] aelfsciene.livejournal.com 2007-09-26 10:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Or we could always have pumpkin waffles that morning/early afternoon! ^_^

[identity profile] murdoch.livejournal.com 2007-09-28 06:13 am (UTC)(link)
Or Sunday. Waffles are good on Sunday. OK, waffles are good anytime...

I certainly know you'd be welcome at the Kel/Corli/Molly festivities, it's just that you've never been interested in those get togethers before, so I wasn't sure you would be now. Alternately, I'd love to watch a spate of scary movies with the lights off. :) I'm sure Pye would jump in my lap and scare the bejesus outta me (really not that hard, as there's not all that much bejesus in me to begin with).

[identity profile] ebonlock.livejournal.com 2007-09-26 05:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Goodness I've gone from no plans to a slew in the span of a few minutes. I suppose I shall have to believe that there are indeed some folks out there who like spending time with me ;)

BTW, Avatar Friday festivities question. Anything in particular you would prefer dinner-wise or are we eating takeout Chinese again?

[identity profile] moonlightnrain.livejournal.com 2007-09-26 05:16 pm (UTC)(link)
I, for one, have just been waiting for the signal from you that you'd like to spend time with me. You asked for time to adjust, and I've been patient trying to give that to you. But now I might start pestering you from time to time because I've been missing you. :)

Unfortunately the Chinese food, even though delicious, was what caused my horrible stomach problems on Sunday (don't ask how I know, just trust me), so I'm not too keen on a repeat at this time. I can happily provide my own food, though, if you and Aelf want Chinese again. :) I'm just happy to have a standing plan for Friday nights. Although, of course, I'll miss it when I'm in NC.

I'm happy to whip up a mild pasta dish, I have that really yummy fucilli and light alfredo sauce. We could make our own garlic bread in addition if that'll work.

[identity profile] moonlightnrain.livejournal.com 2007-09-26 07:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Mmmm. To quote The Big Bopper, "you know what I like!" :)

I've been craving Italian lately.

[identity profile] aelfsciene.livejournal.com 2007-09-26 10:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, that sounds really, really tasty--count my vote as yes, too. There should even still be garlic left there for the bread, right? I could bring some parm and butter for such.

[identity profile] ebonlock.livejournal.com 2007-09-27 02:56 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah I think the garlic's still in there. Now if you bring the parm all we need is bread :)

[identity profile] aelfsciene.livejournal.com 2007-09-27 05:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Sooooo, I really want to stop by Ninja Market on my way to your place on Friday (85 is Not Worth It at the dinner hour), and expect they won't have crusty-type baguette things for garlicking, but they will most likely have some of that weird, thick Japanese bread (by the slice), and I think it would be fun to try it on that, if you're game? If it looks dire, I can always zoop across to Nob Hill or stop at Lucky (wither Albertson's?) and acquire something more standard.

When should I arrive?

[identity profile] ebonlock.livejournal.com 2007-09-27 06:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Theoretically any time after 5 is fine. Got another "deep cleaning" Friday at 3 so I should be back early.

[identity profile] aelfsciene.livejournal.com 2007-09-27 06:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, ok! I'll shoot for as early as I can manage, then (I keep waking up around 7am, so 5ish is a likely departure time); I may even just head straight over, since I'm thinking I'll wear jeans tomorrow (other people do!) and won't have to change after.

Still hungry, and oh-so-excited about tomorrow's ep.

[identity profile] phillipalden.livejournal.com 2007-09-26 04:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Maybe we should get together for Halloween. I'll bet you could motivate Erik to host and we could watch a good scary movie, (or a bad scary movie.)

[identity profile] ebonlock.livejournal.com 2007-09-26 05:00 pm (UTC)(link)
You know I'm always happy to have an excuse to see you :)

[identity profile] vimeslady.livejournal.com 2007-09-27 09:59 pm (UTC)(link)
I am not isolated and I have an interesting life complete with scintillating conversation.

Of course, all of it is on line...
