I want to grow up just like Una

Ok, if I haven't already bored everyone silly over my gushing about the bellydance classes I'm in, allow me to reiterate just how cool, energizing, and wonderful they are. Our Monday night classes are taught by the exquisite Una, lead dancer at the Manara restaurant, who's a grandmother with a body I completely envy. She's hard, demanding, and not interested in excuses. She expects a lot from her students and won't settle for less than 100% effort. I worship her.

I have this thing for tough, feisty, demanding women, they've always been my favorite teachers, and I've always left classes with them feeling like I've really *learned* something significant. I love being challenged and really having to push myself to achieve a goal. Not that I'm entirely sure what my goal is in this case, aside from not looking like a dork in front of my class and/or an audience. But even if that's the most I can shoot for, so be it, because it's incredibly fun and I'm starting to see a definite improvement in my musculature. My upper body especially is shaping up nicely.

And now for something completely different.

I know that the tradition seems to be that an epic poem is called for when a particular Shark's player set's one's heart to thumping, but I'm no damn good at poetry so I think I'll stick with a nice, simple Haiku.

Marleau, scoring god,
Zooms down the ice, jet propelled
Burke trembles in fear.

Seriously considering a Marleau jersey, though I'd feel slightly unfaithful to Ricci.

Now if the boys can just keep up the momentum for two more games, just two more! Oh man, if they could finish this round on Friday, I'd be walking on air. Gods, I truly have become a hockey chick, haven't I?

Crunches: 80
Crushes on hockey players: 2

I'll really have to give this belly dancing thing a shot at some point, because I like the idea of working your upper body a lot. Just need to make the time, since I'm pretty in love with the gym, still.

Tough, feisty, demanding women rule. ^_^ I agree about being pushed, there's nothing like it. I end up pushing myself in the gym, though it's not quite the same.

I'm sad there's no sonnet, though that's quite a fine haiku. I may be inspired to write something for Nabby if he keeps up these 35-save games, though I suck at poetry.

I can't wait for Wednesday's game, and am going to be a ball of jittery excitement during the swap meet on Friday at the con. Hopefully it won't be too noticeable if I'm suddenly jumping up and down screaming in the middle of a sale. ^_^;;

I think I'm staying steady at two crushes, though from what I'm finding online (er, not that I'm obsessive or searching or anything), Hannan is kind of a sleazy ladies man. Pity, if it's true

For you:

Flexible goalie,
Coyotes pelt him with pucks,
Nabby replies, "Nyet".

And yes you must take bellydancing with us, no choice hon, but you do get to choose what night and what instructor *G*

The gym sounds nice too, I should really start doing that myself, between that and the dancing I could actually be sculpted!

Oh, that's delightful. Dunno if I can top that, and I'll have to go with haiku if I write anything, too--I can write bad haiku aplenty, but can't rhyme for crap. Mmm, Nabby.

I'll probably start with Shira, since I know no basics, and I'd like to have some comfort level and idea of what I'm doing when I move on to Una. Just gotta make sure there's time for the gym, too.

Sculpted, what an idea. I think my muscles are starting to have more definition, but there's still too much fat covering everything (except for my calves, which I'm quite pleased with) to really show it yet. Must burn more calories

He's a 22 year old, single male athlete who's been in the NHL and on his own for the last three yeas, since he was 19. I'd bet dollars for doughnuts he's a sleazy ladies man. :)

Nyha. Yeah, well. Hope springs eternal. And it sounds like Stuey is a nice guy, so they're not all prats.

If I were thinner and cuter, though, Hannan would work nicely for me getting some, because I'd be using him, too, and he's nowhere near my social group.

Uh, right. Anyway.

I don't think they're all prats; I think a lot of hockey players are probably nice guys. I guess it just doesn't surprise me that Hannan's sleazy. Maybe it really is the image thing.

If I were thinner and cuter

Again with this self-deprecating thing. I bet he'd take you just the way you were, if he was so inclined. :)

Mmm, I suppose. I'd like to hope most of them are nice guys, cuz, well. Of course I'd prefer to root for nice guys rather than assholes. But anyway.

As for self-deprecating, eh. Realistic, really; hockey players seem to tend towards tall skinny blondes, and I'm a short rounded blue. ^_^ 'Sides, when I'm thin again, I will rule the world, I'd have no problems with him. Or something like that.

Heh.

Embrace your inner groupie.

...and I continue resist being a completely salivating hockey chick.

I'll just stick with being an admiring fangirl. :)

One more for the Kipper...

Ricci's married, you can't be unfaithful to him. Join the rest of the swooning fangirls and get a Marleau jersey. :)

And I would be totally jazzed if they could actually finish up the series at home on Friday. Five rounds, winning at home...I swoon.

So many responses. And all of them destined to get me in trouble.

Well, then, allow me:

Nice melons.
