Joey, have you ever been to a Turkish prison?

Nobody took a guess yesterday so I'll give you the answer "The Philadelphia Story", one of my all time favorite films. Cary Grant, Katherine Hepburn and Jimmy Stewart, how can you go wrong with a cast like that?

So I officially got my retroactive raise yesterday and am temporarily flush with cash. Of course most of it will be channeled into bills and paying off credit card debt, but I've got a little mad money now with which to buy myself a nice new toy and perhaps a few pretty bellydance things, get started on Xmas and birthday gift shopping, and breathe a sigh of relief that I don't have to worry too much about budgeting for the next year or so, barring unforseen emergency expenses.

Now if I could just get some sleep this weekend I'd be a happy camper. Gods I'm tired and I have no one to blame but myself. Ah sweet, sweet caffeine, nectar of life and my own personal savior this week. *sigh*

Nice weekend planned, and if anyone is interested in the Shakespare in the Park option for tomorrow evening the idea is to meet at my place around 5:30. [livejournal.com profile] tersa requested that we fix up a picnic basket and go pick a nice grassy spot to eat at the park. I've gotta' say that sounds like a delightful idea to me. I'll be making up some calzones and bringing along some bottles of water for everyone. If you feel inspired to add some munchies or dessert to the menu please feel free. And if I could get some sort of a headcount that would be superb.

Tonight is yard work, as the peach tree is shedding all over the side yard and stepping on half rotted peaches is just not fun. I'll clean all that nonsense up and then whack the tree back into submission tonight I think. Then some mowing and trimming and that should take care of the worst of it. A few household tasks to finish up as well then I'm passing out nice and early. Or at least that's the plan.

Strangely enough the cat spent most of the night on my bed again, not quite sure what to make of that. Maybe she's just getting lonely with both of us gone all day and feels the need for some reassurance at night just now. Or maybe she's just cold, lord knows I wake up freezing every morning now. I can't believe how fast summer is giving way to autumn, dark, cold mornings are not much fun.

Ugh, losing vocabulary, need sleep...zzz

Yeah, despite my roommate's incessant happiness that summer is fading, he has yet to deal with the misery that is waking up and going to work in total darkness.

Personally, I'm not looking forward to it. It's already at a point where it's dark until just before I leave, and the sun isn't up when I do, the sky barely smudged with rose only if there's no fog in the morning

I hate that. I take the bus, so I'm up at 6 and don't get home until 6. The first week we lived in the new place, I didn't see the complex in daylight until that first weekend. It sucked a lot. :P

Bwa ha ha ha.
You forget my days in the technological sector, when I would wake up in the darkness and go home in the darkness.

However, to please you, on Monday I shall wake up at 3am and go to work.

AIRPLANE! I knew there was a reason I love you. You like all the cool movies. :)

A big sparkly gold star for you, m'dear!

[identity profile] technocowboy.livejournal.com 2002-09-06 09:28 am (UTC)(link)
I wasn't sure if you'd gone back to movie quotes until I saw you mention Philadelphia Story. I need to see that movie, if it's got such a stellar cast. I love Katherine Hepburn, Jimmy Stewart and Cary Grant. Have you ever seen The Bachelor and the Bobbysoxer? Cary Grant, Myrna Loy and Shirley Temple at 18. FABulous.

I *love* that one! It's right up there with "Arsenic and Old Lace" and "Bringing Up Baby" for me }:)

[identity profile] technocowboy.livejournal.com 2002-09-06 09:36 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, loving you more! NOBODY has EVER known the Bachelor and the Bobbysoxer! We totally need to do an old movie party. :)

Hey, you remind me of a man.
What man?
Man with the power.
What power?
Power of hoodoo.
Hoodoo?
You do.
Do what?
Remind me of a man...

Any time, I'm always game to watch some classic flicks!

Goodness, I love that movie. If nothing else, for the chance to hear Cary Grant deliver the immortal line, "Mellow Greetings, yookie-dookie!"

LOL, another classic! Hmm, perhaps I should plan an evening of classic movies in the not too distant future...

[identity profile] technocowboy.livejournal.com 2002-09-06 10:53 am (UTC)(link)
I have Some Like It Hot and The Unsinkable Molly Brown that I can add to the mix. :)

Oh Some Like it Hot is in my top ten favorite movies of all time!!

[identity profile] technocowboy.livejournal.com 2002-09-06 11:21 am (UTC)(link)
That, along with The Taming Of The Shrew. :)

The original Burton/Taylor, yes? But I'd add "Kiss Me Kate" on there too...

[identity profile] technocowboy.livejournal.com 2002-09-06 11:38 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, of course Taylor/Burton. I've not seen Kiss Me Kate. Though Auntie Mame could be fun. Maybe we should do one day of old movies, one day of musicals! :)

I like how you think. If we're doing musicals I'm bringing along some Astaire flicks, at least "Royal Wedding" and maybe "The Gay Divorcee" or "Top Hat".

[identity profile] technocowboy.livejournal.com 2002-09-06 12:37 pm (UTC)(link)
One of my favorite musicals isn't out on DVD yet. Do you have a VCR, too, I hope? I'd love to bring "Seven Brides for Seven Brothers".

My VCR's a bit dodgy at the moment, but yeah I've got one and I adore that flick too. Though I just thought of another for the drama category, "Gilda" with my beloved Rita Hayworth!
