Ladies don't start fights, but they can finish them!
Gush Warning Ahead
You know I thought I was doing my friend Steve a favor when I took on his friend's cat, "Shadow". Turns out I was wrong, I was doing myself the favor. I'm a cat person, always have been, always will be. I've never met a cat I couldn't charm with a bit of affection and gentle persuasion, and often it goes both ways. I've missed living with a cat, and have rather shamelessly thrust myself upon local friends with feline companions in order to spend a bit of time with them.
Shadow, who we now call "Kage" (the Japanese word for Shadow, though I'm probably mangling the spelling), is a delight to live with. She came right out of her carrier and rubbed up against me like we'd known each other for years. And the first time I looked at her gorgeous face (I'm not exaggerating here, she's got the most beautiful face and the biggest, greenest eyes I've ever seen) it was love at first sight, for only the second time in my life.
She's sweet, mild mannered, affectionate, and good with people. It took her about 30 seconds to warm right up to![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif) aelfsciene and later to the Chrises who'd come by for dinner. Brief aside,
aelfsciene and later to the Chrises who'd come by for dinner. Brief aside, ![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif) tamago the dinner was superb! She's obedient, stays off the counters, and while she likes attention, she doesn't demand it. She also eats all her food and uses her litterbox without having to be watched or reminded where it is.

Both myself and the roommate left our doors open last night and she went between the two rooms, making sure she was welcomed and spending a little time sleeping with each of us. Then this morning she came quietly to the door and waited until I opened my eyes and looked at her, then jumped up on the bed to say good morning. It was a lovely way to start the day.
Her face and eyes are her most amazing features, she really looks like this little black anime cat, when you see her you almost can't believe she's real. Her personality suits both of us and she's already made herself quite at home. I think she's going to be happy with us, and we're already beyond delighted with her. Now we get to lavish attention, affection, and toys on her like the proud mommies we are. }:)
Here endeth the gush.

And I'm terribly pleased that you are getting along with your new furball. I'm looking forward to meeting her, even if she does have a geeky name.

You're not a lady! You're nothin' but a sister!
The quote is from the AristoCats
Your kitty sounds wonderful.

Can't wait to see your pictures!

(Oh, and kage is spelled properly, or at least that's how I've seen it spelled before.)

Kage has spent the day curled up on my feet or legs in bed, or on the sofa next to me (with some creative stretching of cords, I can set up my laptop and sit down), or on one of our beds. It's wonderful to have her here.
Re:
And she is a lovely companion, isn't she? Not too demanding, just a real people cat. I even got her to sit on my lap for the first time this morning.
