Everybody hai!

I went to rehearsal last night with a bit of trepidation. Was I going to like what I saw in the mirror? Fortunately the answer was mostly yes. The costume really does look fantastic and instead of making me look like a green sausage it actually elongates my already long body and is almost...slenderizing. Considering how bloaty and out of shape I am after the whole illness saga, this is a very nice thing.

Of course the fact that my skin is fish-belly white (a fact noticed readily when we watched the videotape of our second run-through) is making me decidedly self conscious. A person could go snow-blind looking at me under bright lighting for too long. Sheesh.

Anyway, dancing was great, everyone was flawless and we were all laughing and having a grand time. That's the important bit right there, that we're enjoying ourselves. Yeah it's a lot of work to pull something like this off, but the fun factor really makes it worthwhile. If the actual performance can have half the level of sheer joy that our practices do then this weekend is going to be absolutely wonderful.

Lots of costume tweaking to do tonight so I'm going to try to dash out of work early if at all possible. Thankfully it's been a nice quiet week (knock wood) and I'll be able to report no major problems back to my officemate when she gets back from vacation on Monday. Even the ant invasion has cease, woot!

Maybe a sunless tanning lotion for the performances? A coworker here uses one that looks totally natural, I was actually surprised it wasn't a real tan. I can find out what it is if you want.

Then again you could just say to the camera "this is my skin colour, cope!" ;)

Given how much other crap I have to accomplish before the show I think I'll probably go this route :)

That would be my choice - in fact it IS my choice since I'm always getting comments on how white my legs are when I wear knee-length skirts! *grin*

Instead of "fish-belly white", try thinking of it as "alabaster" or "ivory". Trust me, I know...in certain lighting conditions I'm positively translucent. Hey, lookit my kidneys!

you know, speaking as a woman who loves women... I adore creamy alabaster skin on a woman (see icon above). just trying to give you another perspective.

I've got nothing against pale, don't get me wrong, but there's pale and then there's so reflective you make your own light source. Unfortunately with stage lighting the effect will be even worse.
