Just stumbled upon this neat charity idea yesterday:

Child's Play

Basically it's an online toy drive for desperately ill children that's fun and simple to participate in. They've created an Amazon wish list where you can just click, order, and send toys and games to a very worthy cause. If anybody else would like to share charity ideas, please feel free to put them in the comments.

http://www.familygivingtree.org/ does the same on a local level here in the bay area, I had posted about whether anyone wanted me to take tags about 2 weeks ago in my journal...
