You see, but you do not deduce

Quick post today as I'm late, late, late getting in to work. Kage is currently staying overnight at the vet's so he can put her on an IV and start her on antibiotics. She's dehydrated and feverish with an elevated white blood count. Her kidneys are also tender. He thinks it may be some sort of abdominal infection though we're both mystified as to what might have caused it. I got the sense that he thought she might have eaten some foreign object, or maybe gotten into something poisonous. She has been known to eat random things off the floor, so I suppose that's a possibility, but there aren't any chemicals around that she could easily get into. Hopefully we'll know more after her blood tests come back.

Second, to all those radio traffic announcers who seemed to feel that after 9 a.m. they were no longer obligated to talk about what a cluster-fuck every major highway in this area was (but especially 101), may you all burn in the lowest, most fiery pit of Hell.

That is all.

Amen on your comments about the traffic situation. It took me over an hour to get to work this morning.

And I hope that Kage feels better soon. :(

Traffic

Do not listen to FM radio for traffic. That way lies madness. If you want to know about traffic on the freeway, listen to AM 740 KCBS. KCBS traffic reports are the way and the light. They broadcast traffic reports every 10 minutes at the 8th minute (8, 18, 28, etc).

The only time they don't do this is at 8:18 because they're talking to John Madden (and they do the traffic as soon as they get off the phone with him) or if something ostensibly important (like when the Shrubchimp speaks).

Alternately, kpix.com/traffic has a pretty good web-based report.

If you have a mobile phone, dial 511 and follow the prompts.

Yeah, last time I tried that though, it didn't work. And listening to the radio is safer than being on the phone in the car. :)

I know, I know.

HEALTH NUT ;)

Eeep. Hope Kage will be okay. That would explain why she's been acting so off this week.

Yeah, I'm thinking of you and Kage and hoping that the vet finds something easy and simple to remedy.

To everyone-

Sorry, sorry, LJ decided not to forward me comments to my email today or I would've responded to all your kind words regarding Kage (still no word on her yet) and suggestions regarding traffic. I'll give that AM radio idea a try, thanks!
