But it's Swiss!

That one's for Aelf, she knows why.

The commute to my new office is quickly draining the life out of me. When our lease is up we must try and find a place a little closer to Palo Alto to live. It'll suck ass when it comes to getting down to south SJ for Alyne's class, but not having to do the same stupid commute every day back and forth from work to home would be so nice. I hate having an hour and a half of my life devoted to driving, I really do.

Swung by Ariake's for sushi last night. Mmm. I usually get about five rolls and then have enough for dinner and lunch the next day. There is nothing like getting two meals for about $7. And oh their sushi is so good. Probably shouldn't let this turn into a habit, though, I'd hate to become addicted and then go into withdrawal when I visit back home.

Got some more crafting done while we watched the next 3 episodes of SG. "Window of Opportunity" was fun in the same way that "Been There, Done That" was on Xena. It also made my twisted little brain start functioning in much the same way as the Xena episode did. Bad Ellie.

Really enjoyed "The First Ones", both for lots o' Daniel time (mmm, pretty, pretty Daniel) and for my favorite recurring alien on the show, the Unas, Chaka. And yes every time I hear his name my brain kicks into "I Feel For You" ("Chaka Khan, let me rock you, let me rock you, Chaka Khan..") Still great actor and a fun role, you can tell he really enjoys himself with it.

Played a bit more GS. Vanquished the big bosses at the Jupiter Lighthouse and got that puppy lit. Was rejoined by four party members from the first game, then went looking for goodies and djinni I'd missed. [livejournal.com profile] elo_sf, just for your info I think I'm up to about 47 djinni at this time. My current faves are Petra, Shade and Torch, though the one that puts the spirit of death on your enemies is pretty cool too. And my ship now has wings so I can fly over distances, which is cool, though I found a town with a spare cannon lying about, and if I can figure out how to take out a wall with it I think they'll give it to me for my boat. Heh, flying and armed, baddies best stay out of my way *G*

BTW, the latest issue of Play Station Magazine has a special on the RotK game, and includes a CD with trailers and such for it and a bunch of other games. The Monster Hunter one looks fabulous, I might just have to give it a try, and RotK is, well, gorgeous. And get this, you can play through the game with either Aragorn and his posse, Gandalf, or Sam and Frodo. Can you guess which I'd do? I can already hear myself in the backroom growling, "Get...your...filthy...Orc claws off of my Frodo!"

Holiday shopping and crafting is proceeding on schedule, I may just have the bulk done by October 31 after all, go me!

Oh and anybody planning to do the Tuesday Trilogy of LOTR in December? If so here are the details:

San Jose Century Theatres Oakridge 20 [JOIN THIS LINE PARTY]
Line Party Leader Sammy Baby writes: The theme for this lineup will be COSTUMES! Join the cosplay fun yourself, or just bring a camera, enjoy the eye candy!

Showtimes: Triple-movie marathon starts at 3 pm. Tickets: AS OF OCT. 9 -- Tickets available at:http://www.fandango.com/movie_page.asp?mv=79326 (also at 1-800-Fandango, look for movie title: The Lord of the Rings Trilogy Tuesday) or of course at the box office at Oakridge, corner of Blossom Hill and Santa Teresa in San Jose. SEE LINE PARTY PAGE FOR DETAILS

Neil writes: I spoke to the Century 20 at Oakridge in San Jose, and they had no idea they were even hosting the triology. We had to check their books for them and sure enough, there it was. Seems most theaters are left in the dark on this! The theater said that tix will be available on Fandango on Oct. 9. They did some research and found that about a week before the event Fandango will allow people to reserve the seats that they want so to avoid a huge camp-out fest. Just an FYI for those Bay Area people. This is unconfirmed. Just from one of the employees at the theater.

Anybody want to join me?

If we can get tickets today, totally, hell, yes. [livejournal.com profile] lil_m_moses was also trying to organize something.

I am tempted to just go buy a ticket and then organize afterwards.

Fandango is telling me I can't buy them yet. Is anybody else having any luck?

I went poking at the Fandango site from another direction, and that theater isn't offering *any* tickets right now, not even for today.

Ok that's odd.

That theater just opened up last weekend, too.

And HELL YEAH I wanna go! Let me know how much the tickets are! I've already told my boss that I'm taking that day off work, and being a geek, she said 'Okay. Take me with you!' Her husband is also a big geek, but never does that kind of spontaneous thing, so she lives vicariously through me sometimes. :)

Looks like Dublin's the better option now if you want to go ahead and get tickets. They're $35 and the movies start at two. I'm taking that day and the next off I think as we're going to be getting in *very* late. Hmm, wonder what we should do for food options...

[identity profile] technocowboy.livejournal.com 2003-10-09 10:00 am (UTC)(link)
Ack, Dublin's forever away. Oy. Okay. Hm. Probably still do-able. When do we need to buy tickets by?

Now comes the more important question. Do I go as Gandalf the Shiny White, channel my inner Viggo, or show up as Priscilla, Lord of Lothlorien?

[identity profile] tersa.livejournal.com 2003-10-09 10:17 am (UTC)(link)
It all depends on where you live. For me, Oakridge is forever away. :)

If you're anywhere near public transportation, I am only taking a half-day and am *right by* a Light Rail station (Crossman). I could easily pick you up to drive up to Dublin.

Ebbie and I already have tickets. You would just need to buy them before they sell out!

(My vote is that you should channel your inner Viggo)

I would recommend getting tickets soonish as I imagine this is going to sell out pretty quickly. And we can probably work out some sort of a carpool.

Ooh, Lord Tick, Lord Tick!!!

[identity profile] technocowboy.livejournal.com 2003-10-09 11:05 am (UTC)(link)
Poop. I don't get paid until next Wednesday. Maybe I can sweettalk my boss into buying the tickets for me and I can pay her back next week. Hmmmm...

And yeah, I think I'll end up as Agent Priscilla, Lord of Lothlorien. Now, do I try to do *just* the Elrond or should I incorporate all three? :)

Sorry dude, they're sold out already. However, as Aelf can't make that showing and I'm planning to take the 17th off anyway we're going to do an RotK viewing as early as possible (though hopefully no earlier than noon), so maybe we could all show up for that?

If you can do all three I will bow down before your costuming might.

[identity profile] technocowboy.livejournal.com 2003-10-09 10:03 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, and as far as food, there will probably be plenty of time between movies to get foodstuffs from local businesses, since theaters very rarely roam by themselves. They have followers, you know. Though if any of us go in the correct costuming, most of those costumes have backpacks. Yay, buyin' our own snackies!

[identity profile] eilonwey.livejournal.com 2003-10-09 09:41 am (UTC)(link)
I hear you sister, about the commute. It seems like it gets worse and worse every day. :( I really, really, really wish that we could afford to buy a place on the Peninsula. :( But that seems pretty unlikely to me in the short term. And in the long term, I suppose that home prices will keep going up.

Hope that you have better luck finding an affordable rental.

[livejournal.com profile] lonespiritwolf2 and I are borrowing SG-1 season 1 from my boss right now, but getting Leon to sit down and actually watch the damn things is like nailing Jell-O to a tree. We're both really enjoying them, though, of what we see of them.

It gets even better, trust me. But pay attention to all the characters and races introduced, they'll all be back in following seasons. The continuity on this show is one of the best things about it.

wah

Just to whine in public, I'm extremely distraught that there's choir rehearsal on the 16th (last before our concert on the 19th), so I can't go! I'll lose the edge on "Most Dedicated" that I got by standing in freezing weather for 3 hours last year! O.o

Maybe I'll take the 17th off and catch the earliest showing possible, or something. Hnf.

He's so cute when he's being sarcastic, isn't he? and:
"Sorry, I think I've been around Jack too long."

47!

I only have like ~30.

Make that 48, and you'll pick up more when the other members of your group join up. The downside is I forget what all of the little critters can do. I've actually had two characters downed and thought I had no way to revive them then remembered one of my Djinni did that. D'oh. Trying to keep 8 characters and their powers straight too is a mess, though it's nice having the extra carrying space for goodies now.
