As a young woman and through my first marriage and divorce, I was pretty damn Conservative. It wasn't until after I was happily married the second time and settled down that I moved left and left and more left to my current status of Liberal. When I was immature and sheltered, I thought idealistically that the government was mostly not necessary. As a mature adult, seeing the state of society as it really is rather than through rose coloured glasses, it is painful to remember that there was ever a time I bought into the Rightwing Conservative dogma.
